Our School of Education & Human Sciences blends theoretical, professional, and practical concepts for expertise in education and service. Each graduate program provides additional depth and specialization to relate theory and research to current professional practices, trends, and issues.

Below we have provided detailed steps to successfully submit your graduate application to our School of Education & Human Sciences.

The Application Process

Step 1: Choose Your Program

Please make sure you are choosing the correct program. If you have questions as to what program best meets your needs please contact Sterling Tharrington (stharrington@campbell.edu).

Step 2: Submit your graduate application

APPLICATION DEADLINES: 
Most of our graduate programs have open enrollment, so applicants may apply at any time.  

The M.A. Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program admits students once-per-year, for the Fall semester start date. Completed applications are due March 1st of the corresponding application year.

This application is for applicants who wish to apply to the M.A. Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program.

This application is for applicants who wish to apply to the Residency Licensure or Licensure Only program.

Applicants seeking teaching licensure who are currently employed by a School District are “Residency Licensure.”

Applicants seeking teaching licensure who are not currently employed by a School District are “Licensure Only.”

The following concentrations are offered for both Residency Licensure and Licensure Only programs:

  • Birth-Kindergarten
  • Elementary (K-5)
  • Middle Grades English/Language Arts (4-9)
  • Middle Grades Mathematics (4-9)
  • Middle Grades Science (4-9)
  • Middle Grades Social Studies (4-9)

  • Special Education General Curriculum (SPED – K-12)

The following concentrations are only available as “Add On” Licensures:

  • Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) 
  • English as a Second Language (ESL)

This application is for visiting students or students who wish to take a few courses but not seeking a degree from Campbell University’s School of Education & Human Sciences.

Step 3: Attend the Applicant Interview
(Degree Seeking Programs)

Degree seeking applicants must be interviewed by the appropriate Program Coordinator as part of the admissions process. The Program Coordinator may choose to involve other professionals in the interview process.

You will receive an e-mail from the School of Education & Human Sciences Graduate Admissions Office (stharrington@campbell.edu) when your application file is complete. You will then be contacted by your specific program’s Program Coordinator to schedule an interview.

Step 4: Application Processing and Review

Your application and supporting documents will be presented to the the School of Education & Human Sciences Graduate Committee for review. 

Step 5: Notification of Application Status

You will be notified of your application status by the School of Education & Human Sciences Graduate Admissions Office.

Please note: Students who have applied to a graduate program are allowed to enroll in no more than two courses (6 hours maximum) in their respective programs while their application is still under consideration. Taking these six hours does not automatically constitute acceptance into a program. Students must earn a grade of “B” or higher in these courses. Once a student is admitted into a program, these 6 hours may be considered as transfer credit if the courses relate to the program area and were taken within the last five years. A grade of “C” will not transfer.
